Instructions – How to use
[1] battery chamber
[2] power switch
[3] rear door
[4] correction lens
[5] film push switch
[6] film counter
[7] tripod ears
Loading the film
- Open the Rear Door [3] and place a fresh Instax pack into place.
- Make sure that the built-in darkslide which says “Do Not Press Here” is facing the lens.
- If you see a yellow mark in the lower right corner, it means that it’s installed properly.
Installing the Back
- Remove your Diana F+’s Rear Door.
- Remove the 120 film plate on the bottom of the camera – it’s the plastic strip that holds the film roll and take-up spool in place. Remove the take-up spool, too. Keep them – you’ll need them later!
- Install the Correction Lens [4]. To do this, click it into place right behind the camera’s shutter, with the lens facing forward. To remove this later, pinch its two plastic “ears” and pull it out.
- Fit the Back onto the rear of your Diana F+. Lock it into place using the same lock switch that you use to lock the regular Diana F+ door.
- Now you’re one step away from making your first shot! Press the film ejection button to eject the protective dark slide inside the film pack. Remember: removing the Back will expose the film, so you have to finish the entire Instax film pack before you remove the Back!
Shooting Photos
- Check to see if the Power Switch is set to “On.”
- Shoot your Diana F+ as usual, with all of your focus, aperture, and shutter settings in place.
- After shooting your image, press the Film Push Switch [5] ONCE. The film will slowly eject.
- You’ll notice that the Film Counter [6] will go down by one. This means you’re ready to shoot again!
Tips:
- Make sure you install the correction lens! Its main job is to extend the focal length.
- At 800 ISO, Fuji Instax film is a bit too fast for daytime Diana F+ shooting. The Correction Lens [4] will adjust itself to 400 ISO, so keep this in mind for excellent exposures!
- Use your Diana F+ as usual, with your favorite settings. Experiment with Diana F+ lenses for more amazing options!
- Take note that the Instax image is smaller than a full-frame Diana F+ image, so remember to keep your subject close to the center – as a bit of the top and bottom will be cropped off. This also applies to ALL of the Diana+ lenses and their respective viewfinders.
- Try shooting long exposures, multiple exposures, and pinhole shots!
- Use the tripod ‘ears’ [7] to ensure shake-free shots. Perfect for long-exposures and pinhole shooting.
- For more brilliant shots, use the Diana F+ flash or the Lomography Ringflash.
After Shooting
- Before removing the Back, make sure that you’ve finished the entire pack of Instax film.
- Turn the Power Switch [2] to OFF to save batteries.
- Remove the Correction Lens [4] and keep it in a safe place. Remove the batteries to keep them fresh.
- Again, make sure that the Power Switch [2] is turned OFF; otherwise the film may accidentally eject if you place the camera onto a table or into a bag.
Care & Warranty
- Clean the lenses with proper lens solution and soft cloth.
- Never force the lens on or off the camera.
- Cover the lenses when not in use.
Your Diana Instant Back+ includes a 2-year warranty against any manufacturer defects.
