What the hell is Lomography?
The Lomographic Society International is a globally-active organization dedicated to experimental and creative photography. With millions of followers and friends across the world, the concept of Lomography encompasses an experimental, interactive, vivid and sometimes even blurred and crazy way of life. Through our constantly expanding collection of innovative cameras, instant products, films, lenses & photographic accessories, we promote photography as a creative approach to communicate, absorb and capture the world.
What started with the legendary Lomo LC-A, was followed by other cameras that we specially designed to expand analogue creativity: the Supersampler, Lubitel 166+, Horizon cameras, Fisheye Cameras, Diana F+, Diana Mini, Spinner 360°, Sprocket Rocket, LC-Wide, La Sardina, LomoKino, Belair X 6-12 and Konstruktor.
And this commitment to creative and experimental photography has now reached new heights in recent years. In 2013, we reinvented the Petzval Lens, a legendary portrait lens first conceived in the 19th century. The New Petzval Lens paves the way for a whole feast of new Lomography Art Lenses to enjoy in the future. Each Art Lens has its own unique character but the family all share the same attention to detail, optical quality and exciting image making.
In 2014, we crowd-funded the fun and feature-packed Lomo’Instant camera which has reignited the world’s love for instant photography. The Lomo’Instant is Lomography’s first dedicated instant camera and complements the range of instant backs for the LC-A+, Diana F+ and Belair X 6-12 cameras that exist.
We also constantly bring out new and exciting films to play with. We have a full film range that covers the 35mm, 120 and 110 formats and includes color negative, slide, redscale and black & white. One of our most recent additions is LomoChrome Purple which is a film which magically transforms greens into wonderful purple tones, to give a similar look to the much-loved Kodak Aerochrome film from years gone by.
Today, we supply Lomographers all over the world through over 30 Gallery & Embassy Stores. Lomography Stores are popular meeting points for Lomographers; they host exhibitions and fulfill every wish when it comes to your Lomographic desires.
Our Lomography website serves as the information and interaction hub and hosts the largest experimental photo community worldwide with nearly 1,500,000 photos uploaded each year and in approximately 20 languages. Our highly creative Lomographers upload their pictures into their LomoHomes, tag photos and use the platform to communicate and share photos, stories and information. And in the Lomography.com Online Shop every Lomographic need can be satisfied. To keep our Lomographer’s cogs ticking, we run a popular online magazine contributed to by a talented, super-enthusiastic team of staff writers and 50-100 correspondents from around the globe. The online magazine publishes around 30 articles a day on all things relating to the world of experimental, crazy, niche, out-of-the-box, unconventional photography.http://www.lomography.com/
