How to Build

Are you the proud new owner of a Konstruktor camera? We bet you are looking forward to shooting some amazing photos with this 35mm SLR camera. In this guide we take you through all the steps in building the camera to make the process easy-peasy!

    • These diagrams show the parts of the camera
    • When you first get your Konstruktor, some parts of the camera will be attached to a grid, some are already assembled to make the building process easier for you and others are in smaller boxes contained in your Konstruktor package. The best thing to do when you start is to check all the camera parts you have and match them up with the diagram. This will make it a lot easier to do each step in the building process!
  1. Building the Lens

    Parts Required: x4 S1 Screws, x2 S4 Screws, B16, B17, B18, A8

    2. Make sure parts B16 and B18 are connected – Then screw 2 S4 screws into the sides of part B16
    3. Connect the combined part B16/18 to part B17
    4. Then connect the combined part B16/17/18 to part A8
    5. Attach 4 S1 screws into the top of part A8

  2. Building The Hood Viewfinder

    Parts Required: A7, A12, A13, A14, P11, B27

    2. Clip part P11 onto A12 and leave A12 so it it up/open
    3. Attached parts A13 and A14 on the side of the Hood Viewfinder
    4. Attach the magnifying glass B27 to part A7
    5. Clip A7 into P11

  3. Building The Camera Body

    Parts Required: x1 S2 Screw, P8, B9, B21

    3. Spring B9 should be attached to the camera body B21 in this position
    4. Attach P8 to B9 – The top of spring B9 should be visible above P8 when connected
    5. Screw S2 into P8

    Parts Required: B20, B22, P4

    3. Hold lever P8 so there is space to place in the part B22
    4. Place P4 in the slot at the bottom of the camera body – You need to push part B22 into the slot of P4

    Parts Required: x1 Screw S2, P1, P2, P3, P9, B4

    3. Place part P1 into B4 – Then squeeze part B4 tightly together – the bottom of B4 must go into the small hole at the bottom of the camera body
    4. Screw S2 into P9 in the camera body – Once you have tightened the screw, P9 should still be able to rotate freely
    5. Attach P3 onto the camera body
    6. Rotate P4 in this direction until P8 goes into the locking position with P1 – A technical diagram demonstrating this step is shown.
    7. Keep P8 in locked position and add part P2 on top of P1

  4. Assembling Other Parts

    Parts Required: x1 S3 Screw, A10, B7, B13, B

    3. Connect A10 and B7 – Then screw S3 into the top to hold them together
    4. Place B13 onto the light chamber with the Matt surface face down
    5. Note the little lip of the sheet – this should match up with the lip on the light chamber to fit

    3. Attach parts B10 and B24 as shown in technical drawing

    5. Attach P12 as shown in the technical drawing. As part of this step, you must hook part B10 (the metal part you just attached to the camera body) onto P12; using a needle is a good trick for doing this more fiddly part of the assembling process!
    6. Attach x3 S2 screws into P12 to hold it in place
    7. Add part B26 as shown
    8. Screw x1 S2 screw into B26 to hold it in place
    9. Add B25
  5. Putting Together the Pieces

    Parts Required: P10 and front camera cover

    Parts Required: x2 S3 Screws, B, B19, B21, N1

      • Step a) – Attach B19 to the Film Cartridge part of the camera body
      • Step b) – Attach the Tripod Screw N1 to the camera body as shown
      • Step c) – Combine all the camera body parts as shown – Screw 2 S3 screws into the side of B21

    Parts Required: x4 S3 Screws, A11, Camera body

    Parts Required: x1 S3 Screw, Rewind Key, A1, A4, A6, B30, B31

    3. Attach the Rewind Key to camera body
    4. Attach the Shutter Button A6
    5. Attach A4/B30 – Keep P8 in the locked position and move A4 to match with ‘21’
    6. Attach spring B31 to A1 and push into the camera body
    7. Screw in place with S3

    Parts Required: x1 S3 Screw, A5, Hood Viewfinder, Camera Body

    2. Flip up all of the hood blades of the Hood Viewfinder then slide into the slot on the camera body
    3. Attach part A5 to camera body
    4. Screw into place with S3
  6. ASSEMBLING THE FLASH ACCESSORY KIT

    How to assemble the L-Bracket:

    1. To assemble the top part of the bracket, join L2, L3, L4 - as shown on graphic - and fix with S1 screws.
    2. To assemble the bottom part of the bracket, join L1, L5, L6, as shown on graphic
    3. Assemble the top and bottom part of the bracket and fix with S7 screws.
  7. ADDING A FLASH TO YOUR KONSTRUKTOR F CAMERA

    PARTS FOR OPERATION:

    1. Screw wheel
    2. Bracket
    3. Hot-shoe adaptor
    4. L-Bracket cold-shoe
    5. Hot-shoe cable
    6. PC-socket
    7. Locking Socket

    How to use flash with standard hot-shoe on the Konstruktor:

    1. Attach the L-Bracket onto the Konstruktor camera body by hooking it into the camera strap hole on the left of the camera. Align the flash bracket with the tripod thread on the bottom of your Konstruktor. Tighten the screw wheel (1) on the bracket into your camera’s tripod thread. Make sure the bracket (2) and flash is now securely attached to the camera.
    2. Install the hot-shoe adaptor (3) onto the L-Bracket cold-shoe (4) by sliding it in, plug the hot-shoe cable (5) into the PC-socket (6) of your Konstruktor
    3. Install any flash with hot-shoe onto the hotshoe adaptor. You are now ready to shoot the Konstruktor with a flash.

    How to use the La Sardina Fritz the Blitz Flash on the Konstruktor:

    1. Attach the L-Bracket onto the Konstruktor camera body by hooking it into the camera strap hole on the left of the camera. Align the flash bracket with the tripod thread on the bottom of your Konstruktor. Tighten the screw wheel (1) on the bracket into your camera’s tripod thread. Make sure the bracket (2) and flash is securely attached to the camera.
    2. You will see the Flash Locking Screw on the right side of the Fritz the Blitz Flash. Just match the screw with the Flash Locking Socket (7) on the L-Bracket. Now turn the Flash Locking Screw until the flash is securely fixed to the L-Bracket.
    3. Then you need to attach the PC flash cable to the small hole in the base of the Fritz the Blitz Flash. At the other end to the PC-socket (6), plug it into your Konstruktor. You are now ready to use your Fritz the Blitz Flash with your Konstruktor!
  8. Finishing Assembly

    2. Hold the Lens Retainer and turn to lock the Taking Lens – the lens is only mounted correctly after the CLICK
    3. When inserting the Taking Lens into the camera body, match it with the Unlock Mark
  9. Final Touches

    2. Add this black sticker to complete the lens and hide screws
    3. Add the Konstruktor label and additional stickers to decorate your camera!
