The Neptune Convertible Art Lens System offers unlimited stylistic possibilities. The lens base can be attached to one of three different front components to shoot photos or video at a fixed focal length of 35mm, 50mm or 80mm. What’s more, it will also be compatible with each new front component that we create in the future, including the 15mm front lens that will be available for pre-order soon. Mix and match these focal lengths with a range of apertures and special aperture plates to suit your style, mood or subject.

Handcrafted to Take Flawless Images at a Growing Range of Fixed Focal Lengths

Each component of the Neptune Convertible Art Lens System has been carefully assembled by hand using the finest multi-coated glass optics. Thalassa, Despina and Proteus are the three front lenses included with the lens base, and we’re already in the process of designing even more so that you can add to your Art Lens System and refresh your perspective. Use Thalassa to frame architecture, street and reportage at 35mm; rely on Despina’s versatile 50mm focal length for fashion, editorial and everyday; and switch to Proteus for portraits, nature and sport photography at 80mm.

At every focal length, you can get near enough to take beautifully intimate shots and capture every last detail of your subject. Create clean, crisp shots filled with strong, saturated colors from as close as 0.25m with Thalassa, 0.4m with Despina, and 0.8m with Proteus. Inspired by Neptune’s moons, each focal length is determined by the proximity of their lens’ namesake to that distant, blue planet. Small and light, this is an Art Lens System that you can take with you everywhere.

An Expandable System to Grow with Your Creativity

The Neptune Convertible Art Lens System has unlimited potential — and it’s versatility is already expanding. We’ve reimagined the world’s first convertible lens system invented by Charles Chevalier in the late 1830s with a host of new creative features for modern-day digital and analogue SLRs to create a complete and unique solution for every photographer and videographer out there. We’re already creating a brand new 15mm front lens, as voted for by our Kickstarter backers, and have plans to create even more front lenses with unique effects and varied focal lengths. Anything is possible, and with this Art Lens System in your bag, you’ll be ready for everything. Available in Canon EF, Nikon F or Pentax K mount, it’s also compatible with a wide range of other cameras using adapters available from Lomography.

Naiad, 15mm

The Neptune Convertible Art Lens System is designed to give you a whole new perspective on photography. With our brand new front lens Naiad, we’re challenging you to take your shots to ever-more epic proportions. Naiad is an ultra-wide-angle front lens compatible with the lens base for the Neptune Convertible Art Lens System. With an expansive focal length of 15mm and an incredible closest focusing distance of 0.01m, Naiad invites you to pull out all the most dramatic details. Naiad is no ordinary 15mm lens — it also produces the super strong, saturated colors and punchy contrast of the legendary Lomo look, adding a whole new aesthetic to the Neptune Convertible Art Lens System.

With a Dual Aperture System for Extended Bokeh Options

Each front lens works with with a stopless iris diaphragm aperture mechanism to produce smooth bokeh at larger apertures and exceptionally sharp images at smaller apertures. Although each front lens has its optimal aperture — f/3.5 for Thalassa, f/2.8 for Despina and f/4.0 for Proteus — you can also push beyond these to experiment and produce unique effects with Thalassa and Proteus. What’s more, you can use the special aperture plates to edge your frame with delicate bokeh shapes.
