Compatibility
The Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Art Lens is directly compatible with Leica M mount cameras. For compatibility with Sony E mount, Fujifilm X mount and Micro 4/3 mount cameras, the lens should be used together with adapter mounts available from Lomography.
Type of crop sensor | Cameras that use this crop sensor | Crop factor | Equivalent focal length with the LC-A Minitar-1 Art Lens 2.8/32 M |
---|---|---|---|
APS-H | Leica M8 | 1.3 | 42mm |
PS-C or Nikon DX | Fujifilm X, Sony E, Ricoh GXR, Canon EOS-M | 1.5/1.6 | 48mm / 51mm |
Micro 4/3 | Olympus PEN and Panasonic Lumix families | 2.0 | 64mm |
Crop Factor
Crop factor is the ratio of a digital camera’s sensor to a 35mm film camera. A full-frame digital SLR refers to a camera whose sensor size is roughly equivalent to a 35mm film frame (24mm x 36mm). A camera with a smaller sensor captures only a portion of the image that a full frame sensor would, due to the fact that the small sensor magnifies the angle of view.
If you multiply a lens's focal length by the camera's crop factor, you get the "equivalent focal length", which is the focal length needed to produce the same angle of view on a 35mm camera. You will get different photos depending on the camera you use and its sensor size.
Sensor sizes vary by manufacturer but in general there are four standard crop factors
Extra Close Focusing Distances with the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Art Lens on Mirrorless Cameras
You can achieve extra close focusing distances on mirrorless cameras by using specified M mount to mirrorless camera adapters.
Ordinary adapters let your lens assume a precise fixed flange distance on mirrorless cameras. Alternately, you can use a Close Focus Adapter to extend the close focusing distance of your lens (available on lomography.com). The Helicoid threads on a Close Focus Adapter act as an extra focusing ring, which then allows you to further extend the distance between the lens and the sensor to achieve a closer focusing distance than what the default specifications of the lens allow. Please note that optic quality may slightly decrease below your lens factory specifications when you focus closer than the default closest lens focusing distance using an adapter.
